The Honeymoon: Trip Of A Lifetime
After over a year of wedding planning and the emotions and celebration of our big day, we were beyond ready to take time for ourselves to relax and unwind. Two days after our wedding, we hopped on a flight to warm Montego Bay, Jamaica. Sitting on the beach with the sound of the ocean, chill music, sipping on tropical drinks and laying around was the perfect idea of a honeymoon. We didn’t want to overload our schedule and feel the need to go sight-seeing, so we only booked two excursions.
After having plenty of time sitting in a pool or many hours laying on the beach with drinks like the ‘Bob Marley’ or ‘Sun Downer’, we spent a day where we took a shuttle through the towns of Jamaica to a spot where we went zip-lining through the jungle. It was very intense, a tad scary at times but such a rush of adrenaline. The longest zip-line was over 1,000 feet long where we were going around 40mph and we handled it like champs, Lindsey a little more than Scott.
It was interesting to see the locals on the streets and the kind of houses they build plus we got to learn a good amount about the trees and history from our zip-lining guides.
The other excursion we went on was a catamaran booze-cruise that sailed us to Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. We got seats in the front on the boat which was perfect because on the way there, a school of about 40 dolphins started swimming right in front just an arms reach away…such a rare sighting, even for the crew. It ended by sailing back at sunset, so with the open-bar drinks flowing and dance music playing, it was definitely a lot of fun.
All of the hotel staff and locals were so polite and laid back, Scott has a new fondness of Jamaican rum, all of the food was top notch and the weather was perfect. All in all, it was the trip of a lifetime that we will never forget and hope to return someday, yah mon.
