Otter

This is our 'first born', Otter or known as Otter Pop.  He is an Australian Shepherd and Border Collie mix born on March 2, 2016. He was rescued by Lindsey in July 2016 because someone found him behind a dumpster in Phoenix and needed a home.  He has been through a few basic training classes so he is very well behaved, very friendly, smart and full of energy.  He loves being around other dogs, going on walks, to the dog park and especially on hikes.  He loves the water whether he is swimming in a lake at the park or in a river chasing sticks. Otter is a creature of habit like most animals, so that means in the morning he lays on his designated spots on the couch but waits to get his energy out and play with toys later in the evening when we are home from work. He wasn’t the most affectionate dog when he was a puppy and liked his space, however recently he has been more cuddly with us and likes to be near us as we travel from room to room in the house. He is a great leader in our house for our animals and can’t wait to see how he will be with more doggy siblings.

Birdie

This little one is Birdie.  She is a mix between a Chihuahua and Minpin and only 5 pounds and born April 3, 2018.  We rescued her because her previous owners surrendered their rights due to neglect of medical care when bones in her paw were accidentally broken.  She was brought into Lindsey's work needing a home so we decided to grow our family and brought her home May 31st. She is super sweet and playful and tries to keep up with Otter by jumping on him and play biting.  She's a cuddly little puppy who loves to sleep on our laps under blankets, always finding the most warmth and comfort. It takes her all of twenty minutes of playing with a toy before she is tired and able to sleep for hours. She is a very happy puppy when around both people and other dogs and gets the wiggle-butt when one of us comes home from work. She is done growing in size but not in our hearts and look forward to seeing her play with more animals we are sure to gain in the future.

This is our ornate/desert box turtle whom we rescued in June 2022 after she was found wandering down in Tucson. She has some areas on her shell that indicate she may have been attacked by another animal before she was picked up and we are unsure of her age, but we are glad to have her with us safe and sound. I recently built a turtle table that she lives in on our backyard patio, with room to roam exposed to the sun but also a couple covered areas for shade and kept damp and humid for a natural habitat. We are feeding her a varied diet of lettuce, strawberries, chicken, monkey chow and live worms, which she loves and is fun to watch her hunt them down in her food bowl. Piper likes to watch and wave to her, also Otter and Birdie have welcomed her well too, we love having her part of our family!
